McLaren protests...

McLaren confirmed its decision to appeal in the afternoon. The Anglo-Saxon team considered inequitable the penalty imposed on its driver.
We are on Sunday, September 7th, 2008. There are two laps to cover in the GP of Belgium. Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton quarrel the first place. The British cut the chicane of Bus stop. Conscious of his error, McLaren driver lets his opponent take back advantage. The duel continues and ends on leader of championship's victory. "Iceman" leaves for spin and abandons. At the conclusion of the race, FIA decide to punish the 23-year-old young man. He receives a drive-through (25 seconds of penalty). He's demoted in the third position, the first walking returns to Felipe Massa.
McLaren decided to appeal to this sentence in the evening of Spa-Francorchamps. The penalty seems slightly exaggerated towards the committed offence. A warning or a fine would doubtless have been more logical... Team's reaction is understandable. The fight for titles is extremely squeezed. It's true that by registering victory's ten points, Lewis Hamilton had eight lengthes beforehand on Felipe Massa. With the following classification, the Brazilian has only two points of delay on the leader (76 for Lewis and 74 for Felipe). Towards constructors, McLaren would have had 123 points (129 points for Ferrari). After rectification, distance is twelve points.
It seems inequitable but regulation must be applied. Timo Glock was also punished. He lost eighth place's point to have overtaken under yellow flag.
In what concerns us, affair is classified !... Only Monza counts at the moment !
